What we collect

Account data: email address and password hash when you sign up.
Billing data: payment details are handled by Stripe; we store only your billing email and subscription status.
Gameplay data: quiz content you create, room codes, player nicknames, and scores. Player nicknames are ephemeral and not tied to accounts unless a player explicitly signs in.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in. We also use a privacy-focused analytics tool to understand how visitors use our marketing pages. We do not use third-party ad trackers.

Third parties

We rely on Stripe for payments and a transactional email provider for account and billing emails. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Data retention

We keep your quizzes and account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Your rights

You can access, update, or delete your account at any time from your dashboard. If you need an export of your data, email us and we will provide it within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Hoot5 is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is limited and logged. If we become aware of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notice.
