From empty editor
to first round,
in ten minutes.
Hoot5 has four screens you'll touch as a host: write, share, play, and recap. Here's what each one looks like.
Write your questions.
Type or paste from a doc. Each question gets up to four answers — one right, three wrong. Drop in a photo if it helps. The editor auto-saves every keystroke.
- Multiple-choice with 2–4 options
- Set a custom timer per question (5s–60s)
- Add a photo or short video clip
- Reorder by dragging — fastest fingers stays last
Share the room code.
Open the host screen on your laptop, projector, or living-room TV. Players join from any phone — no app to install, no account to create.
- 5-character code, easy to call out across a room
- QR code for the kids and the back row
- Players type a nickname and they're in
- Lock the room when everyone's joined
Push play.
Question goes up on the big screen. Each player sees four colored shape-buttons on their phone — they tap, the timer counts down, the leaderboard shuffles. Repeat until everyone's hoarse from cheering.
- Faster correct answers earn more points
- Live leaderboard between rounds
- Sound effects you can mute (please don't)
- Pause whenever — for refills, for cake
Recap & brag.
Confetti for the winner. Every player gets their own breakdown they can screenshot. Hosts on a paid pass can export the full results to a CSV — handy for prize bookkeeping.
- Winner-screen with confetti and the player's name
- Personal recap link sent to each player
- Question-by-question stats — what tripped people up
- CSV download of every answer (Pro Pass & 30-day passes)
